How climate-smart are our tenant improvements really? And how prepared are we for increasing demands for climate data for interiors, furniture and built-in fittings? On 16 April 2026, Hållbar Interiör together with Makajo, Prodikt and RISE invites you to a breakfast seminar in Gothenburg.
During the morning you will receive an introduction to Sweden’s first environmental certification for premises, practical tools for working with climate data in interior projects, and an update on current research on reuse and circular interiors.
The HI certification – a new way to set sustainability requirements for premises
The main focus of the seminar is Hållbar Interiör, Sweden’s first environmental certification that evaluates the entire premises with a particular focus on interiors, furnishings and organisational practices. The certification is already being used in real projects and provides a shared framework for how reuse, long service life and reduced climate impact can be specified and followed up in tenant improvement projects.
We will show how the HI certification works in practice, what types of decisions it supports in early project stages, and how it can be used by architects, property owners and tenants to steer projects away from unnecessary demolition and new purchases.
Climate data for furniture and interiors – a growing need for decision support
One of the industry’s growing needs is access to comparable and reliable climate data for furniture and interiors. Together with Prodikt, we will present how an open climate database for furniture is being developed within a project funded by Vinnova, and why this is an important complement to the HI certification.
We will discuss how climate data can be used in design development, procurement and dialogue between clients, consultants and suppliers, and how the database can help make climate-smart choices easier and more transparent.
Research at RISE: reuse, circularity and premises
In the final part of the programme, RISE will present an overview of current research projects related to reuse, circularity, furniture and premises. Robert Boyer, researcher at RISE, will present a selection of ongoing and recently completed projects and relate them to practical challenges in today’s interior and real estate projects.
The focus will be on what current research shows, where knowledge gaps remain, and how research findings can be translated into concrete working methods for the industry.
Who is it for?
The breakfast seminar is aimed at interior architects, architects, property owners, building material manufacturers, building material suppliers, facilities managers, and others who want to understand how new climate requirements affect work with premises—and how to stay one step ahead.
