The criteria document, developed as part of the Vinnova-funded project Hållbar Interiör, was created with a clear goal: to promote more sustainable practices in interior design and drive the industry towards a more resource-efficient approach. It emphasizes moving away from a “tear out and replace” mindset to one that prioritizes longevity and reuse.
The criteria were developed and refined with input from dedicated professionals across the interior design industry, including furniture manufacturers, suppliers, project managers, FM representatives, interior architects, and facility managers from both the public and private sector. This broad coalition of stakeholders and their strong commitment were crucial in establishing a shared definition of sustainability in relation to interior spaces.
Adhering to the criteria document is a tangible way for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. By working systematically and strategically on environmental issues, organizations not only reduce their environmental footprint but also strengthen their position as leaders in sustainable development.
