A strong and independent Criteria Council – the foundation of a credible certification

The independent HI Criteria Council plays a key role in ensuring that Hållbar Interiör’s criteria are up to date, relevant, and well-grounded. The Council brings together recognized experts from academia, the private sector, public authorities, and industry organizations – all working toward a common goal: to drive the development of a more sustainable interior design sector.

The criteria are developed in accordance with the principles of Type I environmental labelling, as defined in SS-ISO 14024, and are shaped through dialogue with stakeholders and society.

How the Criteria Council works

The Council is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that criteria are scientifically grounded, current, and relevant
  • Monitoring developments in legislation, science, and market needs
  • Engaging with key stakeholders and maintaining broad consensus
  • Meeting at least twice per year and reviewing documentation between meetings

The criteria are continuously updated based on new research, regulations, standardization, and market trends.
